In my opinion, post modern art is art that has been inspired by many of the trends and the possibly even the new fashions and points of views in modernism. Postmodern art is a blend of a plethera of differnt cultures, societies, languages. It also centers more around the mainstreams issues in life. Postmodernism, I think, isn't so much about what the art is about or what its subject is, but instead, what the concept of it is or the feeling that the art gives a person when they look at it.

Feminist art is subosedly considered to be postmodern art because much of that art is very cultural. Also, feminist art should give the viewer some kind of a reaction, it shouldn't be just about the subject in the artwork.

Cindy Sherman's photographs mainly have the same subject matter in most of her artwork, but they all seem to somehow comvey different feelings. She also changed and manipulated many of the photographs that she took. All of her photographs gave the viewer different feelings in each one of her pieces.

Ben Durham's art is the closest thing that I could find on that site. He jsut does simple portraits of people in pencil and thats all that I am doing

1. Ok..........
2. A. Expressionism is a tendency that an artist has that he or she uses to convey their own type of emotional effect. Cognitivism in art is a view that a particular work of art is only valuable if it has some contribution to knowledge. The difference between these two is that expressionism can be used to describe part or all of every piece of art and cognitivism is more someone's opinion.
2. B. He believes that art should have some religeous background and should have the type of expressionism to make people viewing it to feel more sympathetic toward others.
2. C. The role of the viewer in Collingwood's opinion is that they should recreate the art they just viewed in their own mind and basically have a conversation with the artist in an imaginative state and discuss the art in its entirety.
2. D. The metaphores in Louis Bourgeois and Kiki Smith are used to portray their own subject matter. In Bourgeois' art she portrays her subject matter in a very extreme almost metalic form. in Kiki's art she portrays the female figure in a way that she deems the most feminist.
2. E. Karin Bos' art I think relates to my drawing. Her work seems innocent at first, but then when you look a little longer you realize that its kind of morbid. Same with mine.

Blog Numbah 2 (pencil)

A.) I believe realistic art is any art that has moved from the imagination to the material world. Art that depicts something from the mind or nature i believe is realistic art.
B.) Plato defins good art as heavenly. He thinks that the only good art is in heaven and any other art is just attemptig to immitate the good art in heaven.
C.) Plato would say that Koon's work is nto to be considered good art but just an imitation. He might say that it is the best around, but still notgood art.
D.) Aristotle mostly agreed with Plato. He believed that the only good art existed in heaven where it was perfect. But, he thought that there was good art on earth, but just not the best. it was more or less choosing the better of two evils.
E.) I do not believe obscene art is a contradiction of terms because I think that art is just a form of self expression and if someone is expressing themselves, I don't think that can be contradictory.
F.) I think that if a sexual image were to be considered more obscene than images of violence or extreme wealth or sickness would depend on what each of the images looked like and what emotions they created.
G.) I believe that Jim Holyoak's art resembles my art because I feel that he tried to protray self expression in his work. He seems to somehow change each of the images to make it his own. It doesn't really relate to my subject much, but not alot on this site does. As for style...most of the work he does isn't as crisp as mine.

Beauty and Repulsion

Beauty to me, is something that a person sees as attractive or pleasing to them. Beauty can be seen in a person's actions or as physical beauty. Whatever a person loves or is passionate about they would find beautiful. That can be experienced inside their body like an emotion or outside the body such as a physical appearance of something. For me, as odd as it may be, I am passionate about racing. The picture displayed here is one that I find appealing because of the grace and speed that the car has around the track.

Repulsion is the opposite of what beauty is. Repulsion would mean that whatever is being witnessed makes the viewer feel the need to back up or turn away from it. Something that is not appealing and something that the viewer wouldn't do themselves.

A. Good art would be art that has good asthetics and avoids any major difficulties or scrutiny. An example of good art would be "Manifest Destiny" by Alexis Rockman. 2003-2004. ("Why is That Art?", Terry Barrett, page 33.) Bad art is art that is not considered art or art that can not stand up to close criticism. An example of bad art would be "Untitled", 1995, by Agnes Martin. ("Why is That Art?", Terry Barrett, page 84.

B. Honorific art is art that falls into one or more of four main art theory categories.

C. Classificatory art is art that has been deemed art as when it is compared to something else that is deemed not to be art. Its art by comparisson.

D. There really is not any place in art that I would feel uncomfortable talking about.

E. Monika Malewska. She has a peice that has Godzilla ripping up pillsbury doughboys. It is graphite and looks to be a simple straight foreward peice of work. I think it has beauty in the cuteness and innocence of the doughboys and repulsion in the image of Godzilla killing them.
